The
following are photos of what might be incountered when you candle the
eggs your are attempting to hatch. An ordinary flash light was

![]() Pictured from left to right : Abnormal Call duck egg, normal Call duck egg. "Misfire" - occasionally you may get an egg that is abnormally small or that has a poor quality (thin or soft) shell. Check to make sure the nutritional needs of your birds are being met during breeding season. Make sure you provide additional calcium such as oyster shell. Sometimes the causes are because a bird is young or the eggs are the first of the season being laid, also remember that smaller type Calls can be poor layers. |
The
color of the egg can effect the ability to candle the eggs, darker
